In comparison to Snipe's Spring Fling - a pale ale that could pass for an IPA - 44 IPA is an IPA that could pass for an overhopped alt. It starts with a thick lumpy crown of foam atop a body of warm reddish-amber. A bright, floral aroma steps up to remind you you're in the heart of the Yakima Valley. At first sip, the taste produces a marbled malt and caramel-hop accent that calls to mind Mac & Jack's African Amber. It then finishes with an elegant flush of sweetness.
I asked about the name but drew a blank from the serving staff. Regardless, 44 is a fairly individualistic ale that's very easy appreciate.
