Had this beer on tap at Beveridge Place, during Snipes Mt. brewers night.

According to the brewer this was released special for the event though he would not comment on the possibility of this being released again.

Unfortunately the original porter was not available on tap for comparison but this beer is awesome. It pours dark brown/black with a temporarily milky white foam head and presence that gives way to the color of the beer. An initial smell imparts flavors of vanilla and sweetness.

The first few sips are delightful. For traditionalists this one is arguably ruined but candy like flavors of vanilla, molasses and maple syrup dominate, a seemingly result of the barrel the beer was aged in. Light coffee notes manifest with subsequent sips. Halfway through, the result is something like a vanilla latte porter but not in a bad way. The mentioned flavors are obvious at first but slowly give way to some booziness and light malt mixed with coffee.

I found this one to be very enjoyable and if there weren't other Snipes Mt. brews on tap, I would've been happy with this one all night.
