Appearance: Pours a golden orange color with no haze at all, has a 1" rocky / frothy head that dissipates very rapidly.

Smell: It has a sweet floral aroma with almost no hop characteristic at all.

Taste: A sweet / maltty flavor is the forward flavor in this IPA and everything else takes a back seat. I'm a hophead and I look forward to the hops being in charge in IPAs, this beer fell far short for me in this category.

Mouthfeel: Medium feel

I read other reviews of this IPA which stated that it was a hopheads dream, maybe I had a growler that came from a batch or keg that wasn't just right because I didn't get any of that. I wouldn't seek out this IPA in the future.

 

 

Poured a hazy copper color from a 12 oz bottle, with no freshness date or ABV anywhere on the bottle or the label.
Massive two finger foamy frothy head that just doesn't want to go anywhere. Dissipates very, very slowly and leaves some really nice lace on it's way out.
Aroma is more on the lines of an English IPA, more malty and fruity aroma of peaches with slight hints of hops.
Taste is also on the maltier side, leaning more towards an English IPA. Slightly sweet upfront with the bitterness taking over towards the finish. There is more bitterness in the lingering aftertaste than on the palate.
Pretty easy to drink and mouthfeel is fairly good. Nowhere near a really good IPA, but is worth a try.

 

Pours a light amber color with a one-finger head into my glass. Not much else except that it's a bit cloudy.

A mix of grassy, piney, citrusy hops in the nose. Some buttery malt as well. Similar to their india red.

Lots of piney/citrusy hop goodness in the mouth with less emphasis on the malt. It's like chewing a mouthful of hops.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering hop goodness. You could say it's a hophead's wet dream.

I struggled to find flaws in this IPA but honestly, I think that here simply aren't any. Perhaps this is because I am still a hophead at heart. I definitely recommend you try this at least once.

Deep amber in color, with more carbonation than I would expect. Nice foamy head, with lacing. Hoppy, but more malt flavor than hoppiness. Almost an English style, rather than a Californian IPA.

Glad I tried it, but wouldn't seek it out in the future.

Appearance: Poured a light copper in the light edges looked golden. The head was great and is what brought this up to a 4 (and if color was a little darker it would have been higher). Soft pillow like thick and LASTS. Good lacing.

Smell: Just above average. Grapefruit citrus hopiness and biscuit.

Taste: The balance is excellent. It's pine doesn't beat you over the head like many IPAs, but its there. There is citrusy hops playing nicely with an undertone of pine and sweet malt. Slight bitter yet clean end.

Mouthfeel: Medium smooth and crisp.

Drinkability: The balanced flavor crisp clean end make this one go down great. A top choice for when going to a barbq or other event where I know I'll have more than a couple.

Landmark IPA is a dim, cloudy, amber ale with some particles in it. The huge, pillowy head rises out of the glass like an off-white marshmallow. Even through the dense head, I smell lots of fresh juicy hops. There's a faint candy-like sweetness and notes of grass, hay and earth. It's medium bodied and super smooth. The finish is a little chewy, but it's clean. It's a quite well balanced flavor. There's ample green bitterness and biscuity malt and a little alcohol flavor that actually works with the other flavors well and provides a touch of warmth. That little touch of candy-like sweetness kinda makes it seem like hop pop. I know they say "soda" in Syracuse, but this was brewed in Buffalo so I'm calling it "hop pop". There's nothing really unique about this beer. It's just a solid IPA and I really dig IPAs.

Pours hazed copper with a thin off-white head. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is floral/herbal - slightly metallic - with a hint of caramel. Minty and mild.

The taste is of bitterness upfront - slightly metallic/aspiriny. Caramel weaves in and out - sometimes balancing, sometimes going ahead, sometimes leaving bitterness alone...a bit odd... Hops are certainly there, but adding more bitterness than flavor. Some alcohol shows in the finish.

The body is on the lighter end of medium for the style. It's not quite creamy or chewy, but almost, and it does stay above thin.

I've used the term "bitter" quite a bit - though it's not overly for the style/what it is expected. But, it just doesn't quite have the full flavor that could accompany it. There is enough caramelish maltiness to balance it at times, but it comes and goes, and gives it some smoothness... All-in-all, a decent IPA.

Pours a clear, amber color with a huge amount of carbonation. The head is thick and frothy, I'm really digging the appearance. The aroma has a slight acidic edge to it, citrus hops, a small amount of malt sweetness. The taste is not at all what I expected, I do agree, this one is more like a hopped up English style IPA. The malts and hops don't mix as well as I would prefer for an IPA. Piney hop bitterness, sweet caramel maltiness, an almost watery finish. Has light floral character.

Has a light-medium body, a little watery on the front end and finishes with a strong hop bitterness. I'm not getting the same profiles as what other described here which makes me think perhaps this one has been sitting around a little too long. It's a very drinkable beer but not one I would prefer for the style.

A hazy chestnut caramel color with a modest white head and good sheets of thin lacing. The aroma suggests thick maple caramel with citrus highlights. Sweet and clear. The flavor offers a tangy pine hop with a bit of lemon on the edges. It has an earthy grain malt base with peachy nuances. I also pick up some deep nuttiness, toasted almond maybe, some butterscotch and rhubarb. Even a suggestion of scotch. It has a nice medium body with solid carbonation. It's not a classic IPA but it's a very passable option that is worth a try. I like it well enough to recommend it and it's pretty drinkable.

Appearance: pours a orange color with a 2" head that slowly fades. Light lacing develops.

Smell: caramel and floral hops are up front with some softer citrus in the background.

Taste: caramel, ripe fruits, oranges, hint of lemon, and a floral bitterness. Mild breadiness here.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp from start to finish. Pretty brief aftertaste here.

Drinkability: decent IPA as this goes down quickly but is not overly hoppy.

12 ounce bottle, I'm getting a huge head on this one, something says infection, but the taste does not appear to be off...the head slowly receades, leaving a frothy thick film , topped on the glass with loads of sheeting and extensive lace. Shakey start, but good looking brew n the end, go figure. Nose is just mildly of earthy hops and a touch of caramel malts. Balanced brew, plenty of malt underbelly, topped with a moderate hop presence. Rough and raw, this one just seems a bit disorganized and unsure of itself, the second pour results in the same inappropriate huge head....something going on here and I cant say I know what it is..too malty for an IPA, with maple, caramel malts being more assertive as it warms. Pass this one by.

12 oz bottle poured into a Guinness pint glass. Strong pour leaves a thin head and fades into a small pool of bubbles. Cloudy orangy color common with IPA's. The aroma is a mix of light pine, citrus and hops. A nicely balanced aroma. The taste has a nice hoppiness to it up front. A bit of grapefruit as well, and lots of grass. Real sharp bitterness aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel and very smooth for an IPA. Drinks very easy. I only have the one bottle of this. I'd like some more.

this beer pours a nice amber color with a thick off white head the recedes slowly to lacing. the aroma doesn't strike me as especially ipa-ish, there's more malt than hops represented there, and a bit of a metalic smell as well. the taste follows with a bit of a floral hop taste and good malt balance. the body strikes me as medium and co2 is good.

The beer pours a nice dark amber, almost red color with a 1/2" offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is average. It has a complex malt scent that boasts of pale, crystal, and bisquit malts. It seems to be a bit heavy on caramel character. The hop aroma is light to mild. I'm not a huge fan of this beer's aroma at all. The taste is decent. It has a stiff bitterness laid over a malt bill of mostly pale and caramel malts. It has a soapy flavor that resinates in the finish. The mouthfeel is decent as well. It is a medium/full bodied beer with good carbonation. This is an average IPA. I would reformulate the recipe on this one. The malt bill is a little too complex and the choice of hops needs to be addressed. There is no balance here. Thanks to LBC for the new bottle.

12oz bottle purchased at either Party Source or Brilbeck's, Syracuse, NY.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" beige head over the slightly cloudy coppery amber brew. Head lasts ok, with average to good lacing. Aroma is lightly of fruity hops and an undercurrent of sweet grain. Taste starts with the moderate malt sweetness, goes citrus in the middle, with medium bitterness to close. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is easy. This beer is moderate through and through, and totally approachable as such. Takes some talent to be moderate.

This beer poured a red-tinged copper color with a thin head that stuck around for a while. The smell is a mix of a couple of different hops, with some citrus and grassiness coming through. The taste starts off with a tiny bit of sweet malt that's quickly taken over by some piney and herbal hops that come on strong but don't last long. The mouthfeel has enough hops to be a little slippery with some fine carbonation. The fact that this beer doesn't linger on the palate really helps with drinkablity. This is a good version of the style that's easy to drink in large quantities if that's what you desire.
