Tasted by a half-pint at the Swim Inn, a JDW pub in Sheffield. Served by a sparkler-fitted hand pump. According to the handpump, this is an ale dedicated to the famous ice-hockey team of Sheffield, called "Steelers", hence the name.
A: pale golden or dark straw in colour, topped with a very creamy and frothy head; low carbonation.
S: lemony citrus-fruits in hoppiness dominates, while a very mild wheat-ish note is skirted by a slightly savoury-sour edge of yeastiness and eggy sulphur that characterise many Northern English pale brews.
T: smoothly-textured mildly-toasted malts and juicy lemon-zesty fruits come together, slowly leading towards a dry-ish and quietly tangy bitterness with a chewy grassy hint, while a bitter-sweet edge of Czech lagers maltiness leaves a good depth and nice aroma.
M&D: almost like a Czech Pils w/o Saaz hops(?!), this is a refreshing, light-bodied, and tasty Blonde Bitter with a good balance overall.
