Tasted by half-pint at the Evening Star, Brighton, on 28/06/2006. I gather from the name and the pump-clip that this is yet another beer brewed to commemorate this World Cup.
A: dark golden, looking static and no beer head.
S: sour-sweet fruitiness upfront, like pears and some oxidised apples, plus hints of perfumy, wild-floral scent of hops... Besides the floral aroma, I get a feeling that this strange smell might be due to it's "almost-off" condition? I might be wrong.
T: interesting sour-sweet maltiness and a slightly sour touch of roast-nuts, backed by dryish Goldings-like hoppyness which lends a mild aftertaste of bitterness that expands all over the palate.
M&D: almost too smooth on the texture/mouthfeel with no considerable fizzy support, this is a thin-bodied Blond Ale/Bitter in need of a better balance or stronger flavours from hops.
