Bottle conditioned 500ml: just out of date when opened on 3rd Nov 2012. I poured this slowly into an Abbot Ale glass tankard and it showed it's self to be a good golden blonde colour, but with very little in the way of a head: white thin collar but no covering.

Not overly impressed with what I got from this beer or the other two in the gift pack from my father. I hate being negative about small breweries but the beers have been poor quality and this beer is lucky to get the scores I've given it.

Bland in taste and aroma: some slight malt and hop notes in the nose but not much.

The flavours were biscuity malts with a mild fruity hop base that turned slightly bitter towards the end of each sip. For a Christmas beer it just lacked power and depth.

Tasted by a half-pint at the Swim Inn, a JDW pub in Sheffield, on Boxing Day 2007. served by a sparkler-fitted hand pump.

A: clear pale straw in colour, a creamy off-white froth sits on top of low carbonation.
S: a light sulphurous/buttery note intertwines with citrus hops and a savoury-sweet touch of almost pineapple-ish fruit ester. Quite hoppy, yet the touch of wheat malts and roughly crushed pale malts doesn't go unnoticed.
T: dry & crisp from the start, citrus-juicy hops develop on top of a lightly bitter-sweet malt undertone; chewy bits as in pale malts linger with medium-level hop bitterness in the finish.
M&D: despite the sparkler-created mouthfeel, the body is a bit flat at the back and eventually thins out in the end. But, still, this is an easy-drinking Blond Bitter or so-called American Blond Ale designed to quaff (maybe not in winter, though...).
