This organic beer is our most heavily hopped beer. It has a rich malt flavour, a fresh floral character and a crisp hop bitterness balanced by the high alcohol.

Light hazy, amber, one inch frothy creamy head.
Floral hop, tropical nose of mango, and pineapple.
Crisp, fruity hop driven, lightly dry and clean bitterness on the finishing of mango and grapefruit. Feels more of pale ale or APA.

On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney as part of the Kiwi SpecTapular.

Pours a hazed golden colour, with a very fine head of white. Some sudsy lacing forms, helped by the fineness of the head. Some carbonation sitting still when the glass is tilted. Looks decent enough.

Not a lot on the nose. No indeed. Insipid and watery, with a touch of light grain, and a very fain hint of something green or organic. Maybe just a hint of citrus, but that's stretching it. Unexciting.

Smooth and clean on the palate, with only a nuance of bitterness. A little crispness, but no hop character really. Finish is clean and rather bright. Balanced enough, but no sharpness, no excitement.

IPA? Don't make me laugh. This is drinkable enough, but entirely forgettable, and something that would give IPAs a very dull and unwarranted badge if this were the first example you were to try.

Pours a pale gold colour with mild haze. Head is white, thin, with clingy lace. Bit odd for an IPA, but decent.

Smells fairly hoppy, but not IPA level. Fair bit of banana, bit of mango and citrus. Really quite sweet overall, touch of caramel. Could definitely use more oomph, it's a bit bland.

Taste is more grainy: lots of cereal, corn with some underlying grass, citrus and pineapple. Bland on the front with light caramel, back is very mildly hopped but again more of a PA level than IPA level. Dry, without much distinct bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin, kind of feels not all there.

Yeah, not very impressed for something calling itself an IPA. I just expect more.

Hop Head pours a mildly hazy gold colour with a small white head. Nice lacing.

I get a moderate tropical fruit aroma with a little malt character. It needs a bit more punch.

There is a moderate tropical fruit flavour and moderate bitterness. This seems to be a decent APA rather than an IPA. It's decent though.

Medium body with moderately-low carbonation. Decent.

A tasty drop to be sure but it lacks the punchiness of a good IPA.

This bottle was a 5.7% ABV hand-written label and technically is past it's 8 June 2007 date.

Poured from a bottle into a small glass for a little dessert after dinner. From the bottle and glass the smell is nice with some floral hints. The color is a deep copper with a small off-white head that disappears fairly quickly. Hops dont come through too strong in the taste and there isnt one overwhelming flavor that I can put my finger on really-a decent mix of a couple different tastes. Not too much bite in this beer, it is rather smooth for a pale ale and goes down easy.

This one was given to me at a beer tasting-I would try a bottle again if I see it in a shop. Thanks to the guys at the ICB beer tasting that passed this on to me.

Tasted this 330ml bottle on 19th July 2007, just a week or two past it's "best by" date.
NOTE: the ABV listed is different on individual bottles, as there is a small sticker over the label stating the individual ABV. The ABV of the bottle I had was 5.7%, but one tasted by someone else was listed as 5.2%.
Appearence was excellent with a fluffy white head on a hazy light tan body. Plenty of lacing on the glass.
I detected a strange smell that was a little bit off putting, shellfish, I thought.
Tasted very good, not madly hoppy (thankfully). I expected it to be more "extreme". Nice mouthfeel, overall this is a brew that I would come back to, even if it has some slightly strange characteristics!
Thanks to Peter from McHughs of Dublin for the gift of this bottle.

Copper body, clean, with a small off-white head. Sweet, toffee malt, a note of fruit. Hops are there and nicely aromatic. Cookie and toffee malt sweetness up front, followed quickly by ESB-like hop bitterness. Smooth, herbal, with a dash of PNW pine pitch. Solid bitterness and more hops than malt, but not what I would call “hophead” at least by US standards. Medium body. Creamy feel. The best beer at Brew Moon.
