A - Poured a colour which was not entirely black with reddish hues. One finger mocha head. Very minimal lace and a film of retention.
S - Chocolate, roast, bitter chocolate. Kinda mild.
T - Cocoa, bitter chocolate, roasty, some coffee. Fairly tasty.
M - Dryness in the finish with good carbonation, medium body. Slight creaminess. Some nice sweetness in the finish.
O/D - Nothing to turn your nose up at. A decent stout that was tasty enough and goes down well.

A- Reddish Black body, lets very little light through. has a tan/dark creme colored head that dissipates to a film quickly even after a rather aggressive pour, and leaves minimal lacing
N-FAINT; that would be the word. roasted malts, a bit of caramel, and not too much else. not only that, but it took all the breath i could pull in through my nostrils to pick up on any of that. rather lacking in aroma.
T- Honey completely dominates the whole taste of it like what Mike Tyson would do to a fly-weight. again, there is a weak hint of caramel, but really honey takes the bitch over. and last i checked honey wasn't really meant to be that strong in a stout
M- Lightly crisp at first, but gives way to an almost sour malty finish. don't get me wrong, sour beer is wonderful, but not when I'm expecting a stout.
D- it can be chugged quickly, which may be the only saving grace of this otherwise atrocious stout.
this was a thorough disappointment from a brewery that I have heard such great things about. I'm not done with them though, as I head to Christchurch tomorrow, I'm sure this is a weak-link and there will be something there that is phenomenal. their reputation is too good for this to be a main example of their product.
