To get here, ask a taxi driver or bus driver for the "Saloon on Mele Road, near the airport." Taking a bus will be cheaper, though. Especially if you can speak a little Bislami.
I'll give the Seven Seas Brewery and Saloon kudos for being the first (and only) brewpub on Vanuatu. I'll also pay the owner his dues for making a drinkable lager (as opposed to Tusker), but the atmosphere is just weird, and the location is hard to get to from Vila.
Inside, you'll find just about every American decorating cliche that they could get through Customs, including stuffed deer, a teepee, saddles, life sized Blues Brothers statues, and other strange stuff. But you'll also find 2 pool tables; the only ones that I know of on the island.
Dinner is served as well, but I didn't try them. Apparantly, it's the same menu that's being served at the Waterfront Bar in Vila. Food there is quite good, I can attest to that. Behind the game room/bar area you'll find some custom made brewing equipment including a unique mash tun/boiler combination contraption. There's also a lagering room.
The Boots Beer served is a pretty good example of a hit-the-masses fizzy pale lager. Talking with the brewer/owner, he plans to mix different beers together to create different flavours; something I was a little shocked/disappointed to hear. Also, if one of his lagers turns out a bit cloudy, he'll just sell it as if it were an ale. Yeah, ok.
But then again, this is Vanuatu.
Bottom line is that if you're sick of Tusker, hop on over to the Seven Seas Brewery for a beer that, while it might not have a lot of taste, it at least doesn't pucker your mouth when you swallow.
