I got this on tap at the Zwanze day happening in Amsterdam organized by the Bierkoning. I am typing this review from notes.
Poured a slightly murky yellow with insignificant head
Upfront is a delicious peat aroma that seems to come straight from a smokey whiskey rather than what I have experienced so far from smoked malt. There is no camp fire aroma at all. Very pleasant.
In the taste the smoke is much less prominent. It starts out with sweet malt and ends sour and bitter. Reminds me of bitter and sour pears.
Little carbonation, smooth
What a special beer this was. Completely unexpected how good the peat aroma mingled with the pear flavor.
