Quite dark brown, just shy of matte black, with a thin khaki head that recedes to a creamy flat collar.
Toasty brown and tobacco characteristics meet a touch coffee bean and hint of pecan or maple in the semi-dry swallow.

Pours an opaque black with half finger of khaki head
Nose is roasted malt and some chocolate
Taste is chocolate and malt, it's not heavy... but there's a freshness to it too...just the right amount of hops to keep it balanced. Slightly nutty.
Really a clean drinking beer, somewhat light in body, refreshing for a porter. Not sweet or sugary.

It is closest to Anchor Poeyer than most everything else I have tried. It doesn’t have an ashy or burnt taste. Goes down easy.
