Tucked away in the Southern Sierras is a small enclave called Camp Nelson. Here you can ride your bike through Giant Sequoia trees, relax along the Tule River and forget about your troubles for a while. In the Fall, when things slow down, there is nothing quite like te sounds and smells of this place. We brewed this Nelson Sauvin hopped beer as a tribute to this bold, yet delicate place. Enjoy this limited release beer and make time for the simple things in life!

Sent my direction by @2beerdogs as a ninja strike during NBS BIF #16.
Pours a very clear pale gold. Honestly it's the colour and consistency of apple juice. Nice wet white head. Settles down to some fur around the edge. Some islands of lacing that stick around nicely.
Nose is very... I think the term folks use around here is 'dank' and 'resinous.' To put it differently: I have extended family who works on a weed farm. The first big blast of the aroma smells like their trimming room. Once that passes, there's some light spice and a little bit of fruit over a decent malt base.
Flavour does not carry the same 'dank' impression I got off the nose. I'm having a hard time nailing down specific flavour identities, but the overall impression is a really enjoyable throwback WCIPA. Some pale crackery malts underneath and an assertive but not overwhelming earthy/pithy bitter pulse. It more envelopes the tongue like a cozy sweater than it does scrape it like a rasp. It gets very bold if you drink it too fast, so it slows you down a bit. There's also a nice nectar rich hint underneath as well.
I've not historically been that big a fan of Nelson hops, but this is big thumbs up. Easily my favourite expression of Nelson that I can remember at least.
Lovely old school IPA that I'm super into. The bitter hops are massive and mean you have to take it slow otherwise it builds up and can be a bit much. The body is a little watery, but the sharp blanket of carbonation fits well. I do wish it had a little bit more body and malt balance, but overall I'm really enjoying it. THanks for sending this my direction, Derek!

Clear yellow, ring of white foam.
Picking up some wood, earthy and hop that I can't ID as Nelson.
Usual dry white wine of Nelson with a shot of bitterness. Caramel's folded in, a current of pine. A lot going on and a lot to like.
Little oily. No stain of flavor but NBD in this case.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Classic Nelson, gooseberry and white grape with some bonus tropical fruit and citrus, a little pine, faint grassy notes, biscuity malt, and caramels sweetness.
T: Opens kinda resinous, slight dank herbal notes, then the fruity side comes out, grapefruit, pineapple, gooseberry, passion fruit, mango, apricot, lemon, tangerine, white grape and lychee, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body with a little chew, moderate carbonation,.
O: Their description is pretty bang on as bold yet delicate. Nose is softer, while the taste has more bite. Really solid stuff that's got me waiting for summer so I can get back in the woods.

Nearly clear amber brew with a fine pile of foam in the Stout glass. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel and a sharp touch. Aromatic with melon and lime peel. Moderate bitterness with a sweet malty start.
Flavors of pineapple, and tangy citrus with a touch of orange peel. Really a delicious and flavorful hoppy brew. From the 16 oz can purchased at Best Damn. No date apparent.

Appearance: Moderately cloudy straw-yellow color with a generous-sized foamy white head that slowly faded. Fairly cloudy but still a good looking IPA.
Smell: Moderate citrus/fruity aromas and pine aromas.
Taste: Moderate fruity and pine notes, and some faint citrus notes. Fairly strong hop backbone that provides a fairly dry finish.
Mouth-feel: Fairly light-bodied with a generous level of carbonation. The mouthfeel is good
for an IPA.
Overall: A good IPA. While I didn't pick up the white wine/grape notes Nelson hops often provide I still found this beer enjoyable.

I could have sworn this came in a four pack, but I only have one can of it now. How does that happen? This didn’t last long.
From a can it pours slightly hazy, with generous foam. I get a real gentle Nelson note on the nose, pineapple and white grape without either being overbearing. Smooth and pillowy, almost creamy save for a touch of bitterness on the end, with a tropical pineapple crush note on the end.

Memories of Alpine Nelson. Slightly short on the mouth feel and on he end of palate, but starts off strong on the nose and front of tongue. Go this in Escondido a couple days ago and drinking in Redding Nov 17, 2020.

Fresh drop to cask n flask San Jose.
Look: slightly hazy orange/peach juice appearance, nice head.
Smell: tangerines, grape, dank.
Taste: stonefruit, citrus, wine, white grape, grassy bitter slightly dank finish.
Mouthfeel: medium.
Overall: This is a great representation of a 100% Nelson Ipa. I recommend. Has what you want without having crazy diesel rubber notes. If you like Nelson or are on the fence, give it a try!

This one is hella Sheldon upfront like a wrestler doing that move or something. But on the end is a lil cloudy funk like rain on your wedding day - I’m not into that. Overall, yeah, but Raul ain’t stoked like a World Series Mookie bomb.
Peace!
