The beer poured a medium, resinous brown, crowned with a light fluffy antique white head. The head dissipated into a thin ring about halfway through the glass. i was expecting it to be darker, but it's still an attractive beer.
Aroma is clean and malty, with light german hopping in the background. Clean and mild, with a hint of caramel and fig.
Flavor is sweet and toasty malt, delicate german hopping, very clean and authentic tasting. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation. A light nuttiness towards the end, and a moderately dry finish. Very well done, like all the Smutty big beers I've tried so far. I'm definitely going to pick up a couple more of these next time I see them.
