2/25/19...hazy bronze, opaque, some foam. Tropical fruity nose, melons. Sharp rind filled bitter. Melon filled. Smooth. And fruity too. Very clean, bitter driven by the rind flavors underneath the fruits. Good.

Pours a clear, light yellow color. Nose is hoppy, grainy. No significant head or lacing. Hops shine here, there's enough of a malt background to almost balance it out, but the hops are the star. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side. I can see where these would be real good on a hot day after mowing the lawn. Decent, solid IPA.

An excellent American IPA. I had this on tap last summer and I was very impressed. This was my first bottle and it was just as good as I remember. A light gold pour. A sweet hoppy aroma. The hops hit you hard at first but it settles to a refreshing fruity finish. Citrusy and clean. The perfect summer pale ale.

Very good $1 bargain bin find! It has a great grapefruit start cbs middle, but the end is a bit.... Bland. Good fruity IPA! Wouldn't mind buying this again.

I made a day trip to The Beer Shoppe in Ardmore last weekend since my current thinking is: Why go all of the way into PHL & have to travel again when I CAN (usually) find what I want (& then some) in the suburbs & come home? The CANQuest (tm) CAN be tricky like that. I suppose that this will mark the beginning of the end of Smuttynose for me as they are folding, but I am glad to have gotten a) this CAN & b) the approved pic.
From the CAN: "The Perfect Recipe for Summer".
I Crack!ed it open & began a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass out of a measure of respect as well as my ongoing resolution to take it easy with my beers. That acCANplished, a vigorous in-glass swirl netted me just under three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with good retention that left behind some nice lacing as a memento. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled EXACTLY like lemon biscotti from Enrico's in Pittsburgh! Lemony, tart, biscuity, yum. I so miss Enrico's biscotti. 8=( Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was just like the nose - lemony tart with a biscuity maltiness, evoking liquefied biscotti. Finish was semi-dry, not as dry as I prefer my AIPAs to be, but well within spec. Farewell, Smuttynose. Thanks for all of the memories, both created & invoked.

12oz can poured into a globe.
A: Clear sunny yellow. Bone white head retains well and sticks to everything in a webby pattern.
S: Floral, pithy, Lemonhead candy, grapefruit. All on top of a shortbread malt base.
T: Floral, Lemonhead candy, pithy lemon and grapefruit, passion fruit. Bitterness grips moderately. Grainy and crackery malts. Floral/pithy finish.
M: Light bodied, thin creaminess, clean and crisp with ample carbonation.
O: Maybe more in American Pale Ale territory than true IPA, but everyone's blurring the lines these days. It's crisp, clean, easy, and quaffable as hell. Plenty of tasty floral and citrusy hop character. There's a lot to love, and you'll want to put down more than one. A darling of a beer.
