Nobody roots for Smuttynose like me. Was my favorite for so long when I got into beer a long time ago. They do the classics right. This one falls flat for me. I think the malt bill is all wrong. Its like they just changed the hops and used finest kind malt bill a bitter yet malty american IPA. There is a toasty malt sweetness that has no place in this beer. Hops are decent. not super the Fruity NEIPA you would expect especially from VT but good. They are sadly bogged down by this carmel toasty sweetness. I will still buy their beer often just not this one.

I give it 3s across the board because it just isn't juicy enough to be a true New England IPA. That being said it's just an ok beer. I would not pick it again if I was in the market for another New England IPA as there are ones much better than this for what it's worth.

This was an outstanding beer. With an abv of 6.7 it tastes very light and drinkable with a smooth finish where the citrus flavor profile pops out. Smells like an orange orchard. Light piney hops are present at the beginning. This almost reminds me of the closest thing beer could get to champagne.

A: hazy; deep gold in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a splotchy cap; nice lacing;
S: canned pineapple juice;
T: follows the nose from start to finish; no bitterness; relatively sweet throughout;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: OK, but not something I would seek out;

Purchased from liquor store in NYC area, Unknown freshness.
A: Hazy, wheat color, light head disperses quick
S: Apple juice
T: Apple, mild bitterness, citrus
M: Boozy, dry, light
O: This is an odd one, it is quite apple-ish. Booze is quite strong for a 6.7% and the moutfeel is not bad but not great left me a little dry. Not a great example of an NE-IPA but I notice it is of the style.

Nice look, hazy pale body, moderate white head and lots of lacing. The nose is orange, and the taste is, too, but there is a fair amount of pith, and resin in the finish. Not particularly soft or juicy, but a decent IPA nevertheless.
