12 oz can poured into a tulip glass. Pours a light red/purple with a moderate head. Aroma and flavor feature slightly tart raspberry with a wheaty malt backbone. Good amount of real raspberry flavor considering the can is almost a year old. Light, spritzy mouthfeel. Overall not complex at all, but it would make a great summer pool beer.

12 ounce can poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Canned on 3/23/21.
L---Hazy, bright pinkish red color. Medium pink head faded quickly to a ring and left meh lacing.
S---Raspberry, obviously. Not really anything else.
T---Tart raspberry. Maybe a touch of lemon.
F---A bit of a pucker. Medium/light body with good carbonation.
O---Tasty, but not complex. I could drink a few on a hot day.

When I was browsing for beers for a get together this past weekend, I came across a mixed pack of Smuttynose sours. I noticed that I already had and reviewed 2 of the flavors and not the other 2, so I set one can aside of each to review, the other being black cherry
Pours an opaque pinkish red with 2 fingers of pink tinted white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
It’s pretty standard in the nose as far as these simple kettle sours go, but it has a more traditional tart bite to keep things from getting boring. I’m picking up on aromas of overripe raspberry, lemon peel, lactic acid, sweet strawberry, light coriander, and doughy malt
Thankfully the more aggressive tartness carries through in taste on the finish as well, making this a good choice for a simple and crushable sour. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart raspberry, lemon peel, light orange juice, and light bready malt. The swallow brings notes of tart raspberry, orange creamsicle, bready malt, and a touch of wheat
A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and tart beer. Finishes a bit sticky but still goes down easy
This one is nice to throw back but it’s a bit simplistic. It’s definitely good for a summer setting

Can from the source.
Pours a dark golden color with a hint of red to it and a huge frothy off white head with a tinge of pink in it. Lemony tartness with bits of sweet and tart berry. Light tart lemony raspberry flavor. Pretty tasty approachable sour ale.
5/30/21
Can from Market Basket in a mixed 8 pack.
Mostly clear dark pink in color with a huge frothy white head that has hints of pink in it. Lemony nose with tart raspberry and a hint of earthy funk. Mild puckering lemony raspberry flavor. Pretty decent kettle sour.

A: The beer is clear light red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that quickly faded away, leaving no traces of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light aromas of raspberry sherbet are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and seems to taste like raspberry sherbet. Only a light amount of sourness is perceptible.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and has dessert-like flavors of raspberries, but it really isn't that sour at all.
Serving type: can
