Had stopped by Smuttlabs on 22APR21 and had some of this that day. Thought I had reviewed it then, but alas not. Fortunately, I snagged a growler that day, and Alewife and I dug into it on 22MAY21, in The 'Zebo....
It was a clear, rich, medium-golden color. Had steady carbo streaming up, with a creamy, lasting, 1/4" off-white head. The foam left nice lacing in the glass. Aroma was bready, lightly toasty, with hints of pale fruit. It was fairly smooth on the tongue, with subtle prickle, and the body was medium.
Taste was solid for the style, imo. Had more toasty, bready, lightly sweet malts, along with a hint of cookie dough. Then some pear, green apple, and subtle honey, before finishing with a dry, clean finish. It's great to have yet another local brewer (like Kelsen) make a style that not many attempt, plus do it very well. Prosit!!
