16oz can poured into a snifter.
A: Deep brown pour, very nearly black. A finger and a half of beige head retains well. Spotty lacing.
S: Grainy and roasty with a very slight acidity. Candy shell and vague fruit skins. Maybe some golden raisin. Cool peppermint. Overall, it's a rather muted nose and you really have to go sniffing into it to get what you're looking for.
T: Follows the nose. Grainy up front. Toast, toffee, and bread crust. Roast, nuttiness, and brown cocoa build as the malt backbone rounds into form. Cola and a mild acidity with some woody roast and a bit of an acrid smokey flavor gain steam on the mid-palate. Grain and faintly bitter hops. Cool peppermint oil begins to grab attention middle to end, but never overtakes the base beer. It plays an even-keeled supporting role, until the finish where it finally takes center stage and rides things out along with malty cocoa and roast.
M: Medium-full body. Firm and round with a soft creaminess. Fine bubbled carbonation cuts through with a seltzery carbonic bite. Cooling sensation from the peppermint oil.
O: It's ok. There's a lot of great malt character in the base porter that I'm really digging. There's enough nuance in that to keep me happy. As a whole though, the beer just doesn't quite come together. The peppermint is balanced well in that it doesn't overtake the base beer, but it just doesn't feel like it melds well. It's more bitter peppermint oil and less candy cane. The whole nose of this beer is weirdly demure too. I had to go sniff a candle for a sec just to make sure the olfactories were working correctly. You never know in these covid times.

Can from Hannaford
Clear dark brown in color with faint garnet edges and a thin off white head that slowly dissipates. Earthy roasted coffee with faint chocolate and a solid hit of peppermint. Not a candy cane vibe more of a lightly bitter botanical feel. Not bad.

From a 16 oz. can acquired January 22, 2022.
The appearance is dark brown to black with ruby red hues when held to a bright light. A tan head. Looks inviting.
The aroma is about peppermint, chocolate, and dark roasted malts. All balanced with nothing overpowering the other.
Light mouthfeel.
Sweet then minty taste but the peppermint has a sort of cleansing aspect to it that I can fell throughout my mouth and throat. Low profile floral hop note. Decent for what it is.

A - Decent looking beer very dark black good 1/4 inch of foam great lacing.
S - Mild peppermint, some chocolate, and some chocolate smells sweet no real hop bitterness smells great!
T - A bit dry at first but balances pretty well with the chocolate tones as it warms up. Peppermint is there giving a good flavor but not too strong or offensive. Decent stuff!
M - A bit thin but for the ABV its rather smooth.
Overall a very nice beer love the peppermint very holiday in flavor. Would drink again!
