I'm sitting at the red rock brewpub in Salt Lake City right now drinking this with some smoked salmon: good pairing.
A- pitch black, almost no light gets through. It had a finger of tan head for a minute, but the foam was a bit coarse and dissipated quicker than I would have expected for such a low-alcohol beer. Kept a lace for a good while, though, that sticks to the glass moderately.
S- don't smell much of anything, frankly. Would have like more of a hint of the smoke here.
T- a great porter taste. Rich malty sweetness balanced with toasty malt bitterness. No hops. The smoked aspect is very subtle, which I like, frankly. My prejudice as an east-coaster is that these westerners aren't big on subtlety when it comes to beer, but this is very well integrated and balanced.
O- great with smoked salmon in February in Salt Lake City!
