This beer is one of Red Rock’s very unique lager biers. A Rauch Bier translates in German as “smoked beer”. Drying over an open Beechwood fire imparts a smoky character to the malt. Inspired by many trips the brewers have taken to Bamberg, Germany where the Rauch Biers are world famous.

A - Dark coffee colour, clear, very creamy head with lots of lacing
S - Big wood smoke, mild spice and tobacco
T - Huge smoke with a peaty touch, nutty and mild leafy hops 4
M - leaning toward the heavy side, big smoky drying feel like you've been sitting around a campfire
O - having had a few experiences with this style I knew what to expect generally and this lives up to the expectations, not something to drink on the regular but it did go great with the big Germal schnitzle mean i had at the brewpub

I was excited to try this German Styled beer but found I couldn't even finish the pint. The beer had a off smell like old malt or grain. The mouthfeel was weak. Color was amber with haze and drinkabilty was really bad. I had to wash the beer down with one of their Pilsners.

appearance: some decent head and lacing
smell: Geez, smell bacon much. Huge bacon smash
taste: just like it smells. I tasted bacon and thats about it. it was way too dominated to enjoy as a session. interesting though
mouthfeel: light to medium bodied.
drinkability: this is meant to be tried not drinkin'
