everyone and their brother is making a west coast pils right now, which is fun, its a great style space that affords a lot of variance and each one of these has its own thing going on, this is better than most, really refined and bright, ideal for warm weather, some cool beers coming from red rock lately it seems, a bit more innovation. it looks like a pils in the glass, pretty clear, bright yellow, wispy white head on top, frantic carbonation, stoked! the nose is quite fruity, green melon, green grape, a little clean lemon to it, also light grassiness without being vegetal or anything, and some lager yeast apparent, a lot of these are neutral there, but i do like the examples of the style that still smell and taste like actual pils behind the hops, not just plain yellow beer, and this one does, the grain is subtly european and i think the balance is nice, hops out front, but its all here, very fresh, well dry hopped but also not without some bitterness, short of india pale lager range, right where it should be, hints of coconut and a bit more tropical fruit as it warms up a little. the flavor hits hard with the hops early and late, but drinks like a nice tight classic pils in the middle, i think this really is what this style is all about, i love how light it is, but how the grain is still foundational for it, the hops dont dominate, would love to know what varietals are in play here, citrusy without being overly juicy, hoppy but then also very clean, like the lagering is excellent with this, overall quality real high, rushing carbonation makes it drink speedy, bitterness is medium. honeydew and chamomile and light resinous character, well proportioned, great stuff!

Name: Everybody Wins
Brewery: Red Rock Brewing
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Style: West Coast Pilsner
ABV: 5%
Canned: sometime during 2025
Date: 15 June 2025
I have visited Red Rock Brewery in Salt Lake City Several times and enjoyed imbibing on their beer and food. Prying the lid off, a lovely hiss was emitted, and foam came out. I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 42 degrees. The pour created a massive three-fingered white head that was foamy and airy. The retention is excellent and leaves lots of lacing on the glass. The color is pale yellow with a light straw yellow hue, charting at SRM 2, and clear with carbonation bubbles.
Nosing the glass, I smell crackers, resin, herbal, pine, light floral hops, lightly toasted malts, white pepper, earthy, grassy, and light phenol notes.
The flavors start with white pepper and resin, moving to a floral bouquet, grassy, herbal, pine, light crackers, mineral/sulfur, biscuits, lightly toasted malts, and earthy with a light fruitiness.
The mouthfeel is light and clean, and the finish is crisp. The body is light and has medium-plus carbonation.
Final Thought: The beer is delicious and has plenty of hops backed by a light-bodied beer, perfect for a warm summer night on the patio.
