Described on the menu as a "light Belgian ale" the first sip was a shocker. Flavors are murky and surprisingly bitter. Hazy grayish yellow in the pint shaker.
This is tart to the point of acidity. So dry it's not even beery. I fail to taste even a hint of fruit. Mostly it's the sharp bitterness. It taste like they over dosed this with hops (brewery says it's dry hopped with Amarillo and Cascades) and then let the Belgian yeast loose to be sure it ate every bit of sugar. It they had used a whole different brewing concept with the same ingredients (minus the hops) they could have ended up with a respectable Berlinerweiss.
On tap at the Red Rocks brewpub in downtown Salt Lake.
