Poured dark tan with a half inch white thick head foam. Very nice looking lager.

Smell wasn't as present as it could be but when the scent showed it was a nice aroma of nuts and dark flavor.

Taste is very good, slightly sweet with a hint of hazelnut and butter, but dark enough to be differentiated from most lagers of similar type.

Mouthfeel and drinkability were both fairly top notch, can both sip this lager and chug if (if desired, not I).

Overall: Pretty great stuff, would buy again!

The second style that I've had the opportunity to try from this new brewery. I'm having troubles pinning down the base style, be it a dunkel lager, or brown ale, and the description on their website offers no help at all, simply a maudlin recounting of the inspiration (be it fact or fiction) behind this honey brown.

It pours out somewhat chill hazed, a tawny apricot hue, no head nor retention to speak of. The malt in the aroma makes me lean more towards a dunkel, sweet, almost chocolatey malt, balanced out by the mildly herbal scent of clover, perhaps from the honey content. The flavour itself isn't very cohesive and seems rushed, a bit of sweet malt here, some perkier sweetness from the honey, a decent mild herbal/grassy finish, and boom we're done before the sip has been fully swallowed. All these characteristics are floating around in there on their own, there seems to be a lack of unity and balance. The mouthfeel gains more of a backbone towards the end of the glass, although seemed somewhat watery in the beginning. I'm afraid that in a beer world saturated with honey browns this one will have a tough time holding its own based on its merits at this point. Needs some tweeking.
