part of me thinks this is made by stone now, as it says escondido on the menu, and abv was also listed at 4.9% when i was into yard house recently, so i think some changes have happened with this one over time, with who is making their house beers, but recipes i am sure stay pretty much the same. i enjoyed this, although its pretty minimal, sweet in the center but not all that obviously from the honey, despite it being lightly floral, it seems just a tad dumbed down, and it leaves a little something to be desired, but its light and drinkable, professionally made, and simple, perhaps designed for those overwhelmed by the amount of choices in here. these guys get a bad rap among craft nerds it seems, but you can almost always find a cool collaboration or two, something interesting from belgium, and house beers made by cool breweries, along with a decent selection of national craft, its corporate sure, but you can do a lot worse for beer, thats for sure. this is pale and golden and holds an inch of white head from the tap. it smells like dried flowers and faint orange peel, with just a little raw honey character coming through the pale malt base. the flavor is balanced and mild, great with spicy food, i had it with their happy hour nachos, screaming deal for those! it worked well in that context and is just slightly more interesting with the honey than a basic blonde, still very little from hops or yeast here, but a fine beer for summer drinking. i think its cool they havent just outsourced these to anyone but have relevant craft operations on the job.
