brewed exclusively for snow basin ski area, this is somewhat adventurous for a beer like that, designed obviously to please a lot of people, but this is beer drinkers session beer, with a clearly discernable rye malt flavor in here among what otherwise is a very solid amber, not too sweet but rather complex without sacrificing drinkability. deep chestnut to copper in color with a tall and creamy tan head that leaves perfect rings after each sip, a pretty beer for sure. nutty and sweet at the same time on the malt front, earthy and toasty, kilned and arming, but not sugar packed, just touch of honey sort of sweet, and with the dry rye spice, its brilliant. i like how flavorful this is and how much the rye adds. i also really like it being so full bodied for a utah abv level draft, its almost creamy feeling. sometimes its the subtle things that really make a beer, and this is one of those, impressively good for what it is. i had some great new (to me) unita beers last week while i was in utah, but this may have been my favorite of them. well ahead of expectations!
