You may be aware that I have been working to unearth & eradicate the backlog here at Chez Woody & this was a recent excavation. It is a bit of an oddity for The CANQuest (tm) since I generally eschew tarts & sours, but I have been a Uinta supporter for a while & I am always intrigued by what they are putting in CANs. This will be CANother eye opener, I am sure.

From the CAN: "2018 Limited Release'; "Fruit Ale Brewed with Natural Pomegranate"; "Brewed with Renewable power - Wind & Solar"; "Pack It In - Pack It Out"; "Stalk us?"; "Crooked Line Brewed Off the Beaten Path"; "Brewed by Uinta Brewing Co Salt Lake City Utah USA"; "Undeniably Craft Unthinkably Drinkable"; "Forget the Map, Pack the Uinta".

I did some in-CAN agitation with this one since a) it had some age on it & b) it was a style that actually calls for cloudiness. Upon Crack!ing open the vent, I got some foaming action which forced my hand & I went into aggro-Glug mode to keep any mess to a minimum. I got a good bit of foaming initially, forming just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with modest retention, quickly reverting to wisps. Color was a deeply-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose almost sour, rather than tart, not eliciting the sympathetic puckering of my lips usually caused by a tart ale. Pomegranate? Definitely some sort of fruit! Onwards. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium. The taste was definitely sour, almost like a sour red wine with a definite vinousness. 8=* Phew. My lips didn't pucker, but the hinges of my jaw tingled mightily. Finish was as dry as any red wine in my limited experience. Phew. Definitely a one & done for this kid. YMMV.

Pours an effervescent amber with one finger of beige head, some haze & floaties . Head dissapears quckly, clears nicely, but zero head retention & lacing

S: Tart berries

T: Follows the nose, a little sweet cherry as well, soonget drowned by the tart. Some strawberry & more cherry tartness as ths warms, Finishes tart, dry with slightly acidic strawberry

MF: Medium body, subtle carbonation

Easy enough to drink but just another face in the crowd for this style

Uinta Crimson Tart has a thin, off-white head, a very hazy, pink-orange, bubbly appearance, and no glass lacing. Aroma is of faint citrus, white bread, and water. Taste is of tart citrus, fruit skin, white bread, and sour milk. Mouthfeel is medium, and Crimson Tart finishes tart.

Poured from a can. Bright gold-orange color. Lots of large sediment. About 1 finger width of head, which dissipates quickly. Smells citrusy, bitter. Taste has a sharp initial flavor, sour like a lemon with a mildly fruity after taste. Crisp and refreshing, more lemony than I expected.

Bought this on a whim from a reliable local beer/wine store. My wife and I have come to love Uinta brews, so although neither of us had ever heard of this one, we decided to give it a try.

First impression, poured a beautiful shade of amber from the can into an actual Uinta snifter that I got from the western regional rep for Uinta a year ago at a tap takeover. Second impression, a soft nose, which didn't give away any hint of the upcoming taste. So, Taste, totally unexpected, it tastes a bit like Casteel Rouge, but less sweet. My wife and I both love Casteel Rouge, but we think this is even better. Unfortunately, this is not a regular brew for Uinta, so we'll have to just enjoy the moment. Finish was very dry and clean. This is a spectacular little brew for Uinta, and I highly recommend it if you can find it. Cheers!

12 ounce can - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

CANNED ON: 06/03/18

Appearance: Pours a hazy, amber-copper body with a very thin, whitish head.

Smell: Cream of pomegranate aroma, it has some notes of cauterized sugar with an ultra light toasted note and some douchebag salts varieties. The aroma sorts straps you in, like at a theme park, and you're bracing for the ride, the taste. This is not necessarily a good thing. Lingering booziness in the aftertaste.

Taste: A flash of salty, tart fruity pomegranate and a ripple of cheap lemon. I found myself making more frowny, sour faces than not.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Lightly carbonated.

Overall: Gah!

12oz can. Poured out a clear, reddish color with a pink head of foam. It smelled fruity and sweet with pomegranate notes. Tart tasting with pomegranate flavors and some lemon.

I drank this straight from the can so I didn't get a good look at it. I was surprised when I saw it was 8%; feels like 5%, subtle pomegranate flavor.

Aroma is pomegranate /fruit and mild/medium sweetness. The flavor is pomegranate/fruit, malts/very slightly grainy, tropical fruit and a medium sweet/tart finish.
