i definitely miss the glory days of this series, the cork and cage funky stuff, now they are all dumbed down kettle sour types, but this is another good one in the series, maybe their 28th anniversary, but not positive, they arent really numbered anymore. i really like this for a number of reasons, its super clean and not all that sour, like just a little lactic pucker that highlights the lime element and then is gone, nothing too acidic, i could have drank a ton of these if they didnt run out, its a ripper, refreshing, tidy on the souring, maybe a little one dimensional there, but its fine in this sort of heavily flavored thing. the guava is real to me, obvious, tropical and juicy but decidedly not pineapple or passion fruit or any of the other fruits that often get lumped in with it, cool to feature it instead of mix it in with a bunch of others. im not sure i get much mint from this, but it does somehow faintly resemble a mojito, bright and fresh and citrus forward with a light herbal element towards the finish. the proportions of the extra ingredients is on point, and the level of refinement is also really high for one of these, well above average for the style. i will continue to miss the truly wild beers that they used to do in this series, but im not complaining about this, its delicious and perfect or the spring weather that just landed. even better than the blackberry lemon one from last year!
