a juicy forward imperial ipa that drinks lighter than a lot of these despite actually have some alcohol presence, bigger than the original hop nosh, and less bitter to me than that as well. this is unfiltered looking but not a hazy, and it has a little bit of a brassy color to it, slightly dim but also lighter looking really for its size, holds its white head pretty effectively. peaches and oranges on the nose, fruity hops all the way, a light metallic element, more of that as it warms, good minerality too though, faint bread yeast to me, some residual sweetness but not a ton of maltiness in the traditional sense even though it has a little color, and with some grassy character at the end. even more fruity in the flavor, riding some generic sweetness to a bright pineapple, navel orange, and even papaya complexion, at first i almost thought this had to be fruited, but when the bitterness kicks up a bit it reads a little more like all hops, terpene forward though and quite modern, maybe some hop products in play. some alcohol, pennies, and tin, but also juicy ripe apricot and gin botanicals as it sits. sturdy feeling with some body, good overall balance, and long on the palate in a pleasant way. not sure how experimental it really is, maybe the varietals or the hop products in it? seems a lot like what is trending in the style more generally right now, but i liked it. good to have a new one from these guys, its been a little bit.
