330ml bottle bought from GapWines, Belfast...
Poured a deep coppery / burgundy red colour. Creamy mocha head poured fairly thick and foamy with a meringue like topping then faded to thin covering.. light carbonation and light lacing...
Aroma - Juicy and spicy dark fruits (red grapes, some strawberries, prunes, figs), toasted malt loaf, biscuity malts, toffee and treacle sweetness, almond nuttiness, light nutmeg spiciness, peppery, nut brittle, earthy, faintest hint of smoke..
Taste - Pretty much as above with maybe a little more citrus and pepper hoppiness, some burnt butter also, lots of toasted nuttiness... maybe all a llittle watery though...
M&D - Fairly sharp and dry... medium bodied... a pretty quaffable brew especially at 4.7%...
Overall - A decent enough and drinkable red ale - nothing groundbreaking but worth a try...
