Can best by 2026/03/24
Can erupts a bit when I crack it, making a mess. Pours a foamy fluffy bubbly 1 finger head with good retention, whispy lacing, crystal clear amber to copper color
Nose brings mild herbal earthy hops, sweet toasted biscuity malt with a bit of caramel, toffee, fruity,
Taste brings more mild sweet toasted copper biscuity malts, bread crust, sweet mild caramel toffee, more herbal earthy hops, very UK noble hops, herbal tea, a little forest floor and almost mushroomy, fruity esters, fair bitterness, drier finish with a med hop bitterness turning a touch spicy
Mouth is med bod, med to a bit lower carb
Overall not bad, very British style bitter, nice malt profile, good hops and fruity esters, decent beer

Poured from a 500ml bottle . 4.4% and bought at Tesco ,yet I'm sure it's the same ( if slightly modified )beer others have reviewed. Black Sheep Amber Ale , here we go .
Pours a deep reddish brown with a finger of off white head that reduces in time to a ring , decent lacing . The smell is almost absent , faintly metallic and the slightest hint of yeast , that's it . Thankfully the taste is nothing like the smell , rich and malty. Medium hops , a hint of fruitiness and toffee with a nice mellow bitter finish . It feels okay in the mouth , a little cloying but not awful .
Overall, good . Quaffable for sure , tasty with it . Nice and refreshing. Shame about the brewery .

Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned
Part of a range of brewed under licence beers for the Morrisons supermarket chain
Not a terrible ale but a barely competent one

500ml Brown bottle: BBD 28 Aug 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve at my daughters house on 03 Nov 13.
Clear body of mahogany with a red hue: on top an off-white covering that hung around.
Fruity malts (and fruity hops maybe) fill the nose along with semi-sweet malty molasses.
The taste follows the nose, but it isn't as sweet as the smell suggested: the hops come alive in the mouth and impart a good dry bitterness, especially towards the end of each sip.
Body depth was fine and the beer was a better than I expected from a supermarket brew.
