Bottle 6.1%, Cask 5%.

A blend of two iconic flavours packed into a luscious stout.

A match made in heaven! Arguably two of the most loved flavours of chocolate and orange combine perfectly in this rich and deep stout. Big chocolate notes arise from the blend of dark chocolate malt that we use in the mash.Flaked oats are also used to add a velvet-like body which works wonders for this particular style of beer. Dried orange peel is introduced in the hop back to add a subtle citrus note to this flavour packed ale. At 6.1% it has great body and is a super representation of the legendary stout style.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.1%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, orange and mild coffee. The flavour has the same elements, and is not too sweet. Also a hint of liquorice. Moderate hops.

L- Superficially black to the eye, but a torch held at the side of the glass reveals it to be deep ruby/garnet. Pours with 2mm dark-tan head. Zero sediment/filtered.
S- Deep cocoa and some citrus are prominent.
T- There is a bitter note wafting about on my palate... and I supect it's the orange. I've some winter congestion tonight but the note comes over as aromatic and perfumed, but for me it isn't clearly signalling orange as the source.
F- It's pretty pungent, pretty full-on but it's in no way OTT or at all over-bearing as some other hefty black beers I've had recently have threatended. It's maintains a decent level of bright hopping that brings the overall into balance.
O- It's very drinkable, for me it comes over as a chocolate stout with an unclear aromatic bitter-note, Perhaps just my congestion today.

S: Cooking chocolate, cocoa powder, rich creaminess, toffee
T: Juicy orange, rich malts, hint of light chocolate at the back end

Bottled and bottle is dark brown glass but definitely not bottle conditioned
Pours a dark brown body with really good tan head
Aroma is cheap coffee and chocolate and the vaguest of orange notions
A fairly decent stout flavour and good body

A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2019. Picked up a while back from Morrisons. Described on the label as a stout brewed with dark chocolate and orange peel.

A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A very dark ruby-brown hue that appears pitch black in the glass. Yields a large head of creamy tan foam that lasts for a while before slowly subsiding to a persistent surface layer. Nice lacing.

S: Aroma of rich dark malt with hints of roasted grain, dark chocolate, mild dried fruit, subtle molasses, a touch of orange peel, ale yeast and earthiness. Complex, balanced and fantastic.

T: Tastes of bitter roasted malt with notes of burnt grain, coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruit, molasses, ale yeast, a hint of orange peel, earthiness and faint leafiness. Quite dry, followed by a strident malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with decent carbonation and a smooth, velvety body. Very nice. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruit, molasses, orange peel and ale yeast.

O: Very nice - a solid effort from Black Sheep. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are rich, complex and satisfying. Excellent body; smooth and creamy. This concept would have been easy to overdo - instead the result is balanced and understated. Goes down a treat; a must-try for stout lovers.

Bottle. Very dark brown. Thick tan and ever decreasing head. Some lacing.
Big coffee and chocolate aroma but where's the orange?
A pithy orange bitterness is just discerned on tasting. Dark chocolate again.
Smooth and the ABV is hardly noticed.
