Pours amber with fine, soft foam.

Smell is malty and floral, with notes of citrus and sourdough bread.

Taste is bready and floral, slightly sweet with notes of citrus, citrus peel and a moderate bitterness,

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a good, classic English IPA.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of May 2019. Acquired a while back from Morrisons. The label describes it as a very silly IPA brewed with pale ale malt and crystal rye. Hopped with First Gold, Galena and Amarillo.

A: Poured into a straight pint glass. A deep coppery-amber colour with excellent clarity and moderate carbonation. Forms a large head of frothy off-white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.

S: Aroma of fruity hops with hints of mild citrus, peel, vague fruitiness, leafiness, caramel malt, rye, bread, subtle spice and ale yeast. Pleasant and balanced but seems underhopped for an IPA.

T: Tastes of fruity hops with notes of citrus zest, peel, mild tropical fruit, subtle pine, leafiness, caramel malt, grainy rye, bread, a touch of spice, earthiness and ale yeast. Slightly sweet, followed by a robust hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter fruity hops, citrus, pine, caramel malt, rye, earthiness and ale yeast.

O: A nice beer though perhaps not a great IPA. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a blend of somewhat fruity hops, caramel malt, rye and ale yeast. Body is alright. Not quite hoppy enough in my opinion - the robust malt presence overshadows the hop character. Drinkable, just not one for the hop-heads. Worth trying.

On cask. Pours a light mahogany with thin creamy/cask head with spotty lace. Nose is light stale English hops and light fruit malt. Taste is similar...really more of a bitter to my taste than and English IPA. Some fruity malt with a pretty good bitterness through the finish, but not that much flavor and not that interesting. Fine for throwing back a pint, but not something I’d order again.
