L- Inky black, pours with 2mm mid-tan head.
S- Chocolate praline. Prominent chocolate with a rich/nutty background with vanilla hints.
T- The choco note is far bolder than expected, it's now way more dark cocoa than milky chocolate. The nutty aspect is now subtle within that context. - I've had too many beers of this kind Milk Stouts that have been over-rich and at times over the line into outright sweet; this is not like that...
F- ... it has some richness (=good, well at this ABV it's almost default) but it is nowhere near straying into sweetness. It is certainly a notably bold and pungent beer, intense on the palate, so suits me as a slow-sipping beer.
O- I read 'Hazlenut & Slated Caramel Imperial Stout, 7.2%' and I'm aware there is about a 50/50 risk it'll be too sweet for me to fully enjoy. The surprise here is the (non-sweet) pungency of the cocoa, it's quite a mega-blast.
440ml can BB: 30/11/2021 £3.25 Bought from TremblingMadness/York as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
---All the above and the ratings added pre reading the can. Now I will, and note points of interest. 'Contains: [includes] Lactose, hazlenut essence'.
