Thanks to Derek for what appears to be a pretty rare beer. This was brewed for the Michigan Brewers Guild Winterfest in 2009.
A: The beer pours a dark copper color with a finger or so of off-white/khaki colored head.
S: Smells barleywine like, that's for sure. Lots of toffee and caramel with a slight booziness to it. There's a very mild citrus hop aroma, and maybe some pine. Overall, it's very much on the bready side with a bit of toast.
T: This tastes pretty much like it smells. Lots of toffee, a bit of caramel, and some toasted bread. There is some orange peel flavor along with a pretty substantial bitterness. A decent amount of booze, which is sort of surprising for a 2 year old beer, but maybe not since it's 11%.
M: The body is medium and the carbonation is maybe on the low end of medium.
D: Sort of one note, unfortunately, but that can happen with barleywines. This wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either.
