Half liter bottle dated best by 06.2024 picked up at a local getrankemarkt. I’m always down to try a Kellerbier but not necessarily from this brewery. It’s not bad, at all, but wouldn’t seek out. Would certainly order a pint vom fass if I saw it. Pours a nice golden amber. Big funk and yeast in the aroma and flavor with a sweetness not usually associated with this style. Has the body and feel of a Keller. Enjoyable to drink and worth the €1 or so.

enjoyed at franziskaner’s restaurant in hamburg, i did not know this existed, perfectly nice kellerbier, brown bread malt, rather sweet, mildly bitter floral hop finish, quite easy drinking, i feel like i give the same rating to all kellerbiers but this was nice

500 ml bottle, from Edeka Sophienhof, Kiel. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden to orange / amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and herbs, hints of broth. Soft mouthfeel. Refreshing flavour, malts and grain, medium dry, hints of caramel and herbal hops.

A pretty classic easy drinking kellerbier...maybe a bit more sweetness and caramel malt than is typical. No off flavors, which makes this the kind of beer you can just throw back and enjoy without overthinking. Honestly, nothing really stands out, yet overall it is an above average beer and exactly what you might be looking for if you just want to knock a few back with friends.

On-tap at Andechser Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany
A: The beer is cloudy dark brownish yellow in color. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of yeast along with notes of bready and grainy malts
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a bit chewy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer is quite complex from the yeast, but it wasn’t very heavy on the palate.
Serving type: on-tap

Spaten-Frankziskaner-Bräu GmbH "Franziskaner Kellerbier"
,5L brown glass bottle, "Mindestens haltbar bis Ende: 02.2018..." and sampled on 23.09.2017
Look: Very hazy deep amber body beneath a finger thick head of creamy white foam. The head retention is very good and it leaves broken walls of lacing behind.
Smell: Grainy, lightly caramelish malt with a touch of sweetness and a light hint of fruitiness.
Taste: The flavor delivers a full maltiness that suggests toffee and a drizzle of honey, along the lines of the Franziskaner hefeweizen but without the wheat. The light yeasty fruitiness found in the aroma remains, and it's mainly like apple-like; and there's some lightly floral and grassy hop notes as well. A median to moderate bitterness balances it and it finishes mainly dry with just a dollop of maltiness remaining to steadily fade away.
Feel: Medium in body and gently crisp then smooth across the palate.
Overall: A flavorful and interesting kellerbier that's darker than you might expect and a touch caramelish and sweet. It's interesting, and softly bitter, and remarkably easy to drink.

Pours a clouded amber color with a medium sized, fluffy white head.
Smells of skunky yeast with sweet toffee malts, balanced by straw and a spicy peak.
Has a light, very sweet body with a lower, smooth carbonation, producing a metallic quality.
Smells of an aqueous maltiness, sweet, with a rustic hint, soft yeast and a note of old grass. Finishes watery with a short lasting hop peak among the profound malts.
Tasty, but quite streamlined as for its superlight, expectedly malty body.

Half Litre bottle, poured into pint shaker.
A: Bronze colour, slightly hazy, initially poured a one finger tanned head which faded quickly without leaving much lacing.
S: Hay and sugar beat.
T: A sweet burst of tangerine combined with toasted honey, finished with some grassy notes.
M: Smooth but not overly carbonated, slightly thick texture.
O: On the sweet side for a Kellerbier, but it went down well.
