Barrel 9 - Oatmeal Stout

Part of a flight of six beers, arriving in 4 ounce mini mugs. The Barrel 9 beers are the Brewmaster's seasonal offerings, when he get to 'play', as it states on the menu. Our waitress informed us that the Oatmeal Stout was the current offering in this series. It was almost black in color, with little head. I couldn't define any oatmeal in the taste, but there were plenty of other flavors, including some licorice, a bit of chocolate, and plenty of malty sweetness. It had complexity that worked in harmony, and even my dinner companion, who always goes for the lightest beers available, enjoyed the flavor of this stout. It was my second favorite beer of the flight of six, and I would order it again.
