A deep chocolate, malty beer brewed with oranges to give it a background citrus bitterness and matured to create a classic 'old ale' style.

Dark brown with an orange tinge up to an inch when held to the light. Dark, so dark its hard to see any carbonation. Topped with 4 fingers of creamy beige head.

Coffee and whipped cream. Mostly cream with a hint of coffee like Tiramisu. A hint of esters, prunes and dark fruits. Very light on the nose, but heavy scents in the sense of the types of aromas- liquorice, molasses. These are lightened by a hint of citrus.

It is reminiscent firstly of a porter with its dark cigar and molasses, liquorice hints. There's a fruitiness like oranges that is subtle at first, hard water, a hint of coffee, chocolate as well. The end feels lighter and more vibrant like lemon and orange and cherries but none of these define themselves clearly. Any bitterness is more like a burnt quality.

Heavy, slightly oily body, moderate foamy carbonation, smooth finish.

Highly recommended. Found and drank in Chiang Mai Sept 14, 2015. Its complex and good. Sort of like a black ipa in some ways.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a dark black colour with a small off-white head.

Smells slightly fruity sweet and malty - burnt and chocolatey.

Tastes quite malty again - roasted and chocolate with a distinct tangy orange presence.

Overall a pretty good local, interesting but a bit expensive at over £3 a bottle. Would prefer a bit of a fuller mouthfeel and depth of flavour.
