The third beer tasted by half-pint at the Chelmsford Summer Beerfest., 12/07/2006, gravity-dispensed.
A: dark reddish amber hue, fluffy beer head with some retention, great clarity.
S: honeyish malts with a mild earthy hint of Fuggles-like hops; malt-dominated but fruity as well, with hints of marmalade.
T: a dryish malty fore-taste that is slightly roasty and backed by a minimal fruity edge, leading to an intriguing mid-taste mixed of cinnamon & licorice like spicy-bitter edge and roasted black tea-ish hops; turning drier and drier, with an herbal as well as tea-leafy tangy feel left b/w the teeth and at the back of the tongue.
M&D: medium-bodied, smooth on the palate with an extra length and depth attributed to the assertive dryness and bitterness from both roasted malts(?) and hops. A very bitter Bitter--my cup of tea.
