In the cold darkness of Belgium's winter, a tradition arose where brewer monks transformed their finest art into an elixir, created to warm souls and compliment the rich Christmas food. Our Jule Dubbel balances candy sweetness with notes of berries and stone fruit, while the spicy aroma dances like snowflakes in the icy air.

Copenhagen 1/2 2024. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. A Santa standing amid a pile of presents with sunglasses for some obscure reason.
Pours clear dark brown with a red hue. Mid-sized off-white head. Stable. Settles as thin patches of foam floating about. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and malty odor with a touch of sugar mingling with a more subdued scent of sour grains. Sweet toffee and caramel. Brown sugar. Raisins and vanilla.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, slightly thick, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a medium strong sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and tart with a notable sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Not exactly a Belgian Dubbel - but not too bad for a Christmas brew.
