The fifth beer tasted by half-pint at the Chelmsford Summer Beerfest., 12/07/2006. Gravity-dispensed.
A: bright reddish amber in colour, the body is quite static and no beer head is noticeable, but comes with great clarity, true to a fresh cask-conditioned ale.
S: slightly stinky, as of barns, with a mixed muddy and hayish note of hots, backed by quite subtle bits of chest-nutty malts--overall quite hoppy but settled as well.
T: damp, sour-sweet maltiness laced with a citrus-peel like citric fruity edge, followed by a caramely hint in the end and more tangy, bitter leafy hops (like Fuggles) lingering in the finish.
M&D: quite thin in body as healthy fizziness is somehow absent, although the chewy hoppy texture comes to the rescue from behind. All in all, a standard bitter, lacking sparks and depth to be impressive.
