Shiner ¡Órale! Limon from Spoetzl Brewing. Six pack of 12 fl oz bottles, picked up at HEB Plus on 306, New Braunfels, TX, 13/11/24, $ 11.21 (Including tax), $ 0.156/fl oz. Reviewed 14/11/24 (Review 3394). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 48.9 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 51.0 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.25
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), clear.
Body – Pale Straw (SRM 2), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head: Small (Maximum 0.8 cm, aggressive center pour), white, medium density. Quickly collapsing to a 0.2 cm bubble ring and no cap.
Lacing – None
Aroma – 3.25 – A bit grainy - no yeast, no hops, no malt, no lime. No ethanol (4.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 3.5 – Follows the nose but also a bit of citrus – could be lime but distinctly not orange/grapefruit. No yeast. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Thin; watery; lively but short-lived carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines, as loosely condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 3 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Actually quite tasty for an AAL – the citrus puts it over the top, making it actually drinkable.
