Picked up a single bottle from Midwest Wine and Spirits in Midwest City, OK on March 12, 2026.
Look - deep, dark brown brew with very thin khaki ring dissipates immediately when poured into my new stemmed snifter. Loads of tiny bubbles.
Smell - vanilla is the strongest smell I get, slight maple smell, and some sort of amazing sweetness I can’t quite place.
Taste - not as sweet as I’d hoped; it slightly tastes like pecan pie, but its more just a great tasting, malty porter. I don’t taste the sweet vanilla and maple that the most intrigued me with. However, I still give taste a 4/5. It is a solid beer.
Feel - great carbonation improves the lack of thickness I was expecting from this beer. Mouthfeel is good, but similar to the taste, it just isn’t what I was expecting.
Overall - solid beer. As mentioned, not at all what I expected, but I’d buy a six pack of this if I was wanting something more mellow than the typical 10-15% ABV beers I regularly drink.

Dark brown in color with a fingernail of khaki around the rim and covering two thirds of the top. The aroma is of chocolate, caramel, and toasted nuts. I’ tasting cocoa, caramel, and toasted nuts. The mouth is dry and lightly oily.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep red brown with a small light brown head that dissipates quickly. Smells of brown sugar with nice pie notes, nutty especially. Tastes of chocolate, brown sugar, and sweet pecans. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Stellar beer! Almost a like it was stored in bourbon barrels.

Shiner Pecan Pie from Spoetzl Brewery. Mixed twelve-pack of 12 fl oz bottles, picked up 06/11/25, at HEB, New Braunfels, TX, 13/11/25, $21.33 (including tax)/$ 0.146/fl oz. Reviewed 15/11/25, review 3631. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Individual bottles undated, but box is stamped “03/11/26.” Stored at home at 37 degrees F. Served at 59.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 54.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.75
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, ruby.
Head – Average (Maximum 0.9 cm, aggressive center pour). Blanched almond, medium density, short retention, leaving 0.2 cm bubble ring and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Initially brown sugar and vanilla, quickly giving away to caramel, sweet, no malt, no hops, no alcohol (6.5% ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins with sweet with caramel malt – ends the same. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No pecans. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Thin: Watery: Lively carbonation.
Style: Somewhat follows the BA style description, but lacks any bitterness.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited art work. Really uninspired brew – easy drinking but why bother. The whole is less than the sum of the parts.

No idea if this is the same as as the candied pecan porter Shiner's had before, but the name and the ABV are different, so I added it as new.
