Tasted on August 13, 2009.
The beer is not so good looking. Brown to very dark amber. Very hazy. The smell is mainly vanilla... I'm not getting anything else. It is a little bit overwhelming... On the taste, malts (finally) and a light vanilla presence. Very easy to drink. Only the smell that is not great. The head is creamy looking which is the feel I get of the beer in my mouth. Not a bad mouthfeel, however a strange beer. Not bad, but not extraordinary.

Bottle from Marche Jovi- A deep hazy and rusty brown pour, with a fizzy beige head. Spicy nose has vanilla, pit fruit, floral, and caramel notes. Tastes quite grainy, of sweet vanilla, caramel, spices, very earthy as well. Towards the finish, there is an odd tartness and what I can only describe as signature Quebec sourness, but it isn't that unpleasant. This is creamy, but also quite grainy throughout. Unique.

Pours a hazy red with an inch of sticky foam. Malty, caramel nose with berries and red fruit, hints of toast and no vanilla detected. Flavour is again malty and caramelly, but with nondescript hops and decent bitterness. A bit of sweetness and acidity up front. Lightly toasty, and some tobacco leaf as well. Lightish body and moderate carbonation. Easy drinkable but not too exciting.

Bottle: Poured a medium brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt with some subtle notes of vanilla. Taste is a mix between some light caramel malt with some very subtle notes of vanilla with some well balanced sweetness. Body is definitely too watery for the style with some great carbonation. Not too bad overall but lacking some character.
