Deep copper-coloured body with a cover of beige head which leaves some lacing. Tons of dandruff-looking white sediment suspended throughout like the last one of theirs I opened (the scotch ale).
Smoke is featured on the nose. Salty with hickory sticks and bacon, minerals and caramel malt.
Quite smoky in the mouth as well, with a distinct hickory smoke flavour. Malt is on the thin side as I've found with most of their beers so far. Minerals and lightly-bitter earthy hops fill in the rest. No alcohol shows and at 5% none should; why then is "imperial" written on the label?
Decent medium body with fairly low carbonation. Appropriate.
If I didn't know what Hostess Hickory Sticks were maybe I'd think it tasted better but having eaten a few bags in my life the connection is too strong to be fully enjoyed in beer form. Not a bad brew at all though, if you tend to like smoky beers. You'd think a master brewer would know that it's pretty confusing to be calling a 5% beer "imperial". I don't get it.

341ml bottle, courtesy of tbeckett - sante! Kind of wondering about the 'Imperiale' designation, even from the outset...
This beer pours a cloudy dark amber hue, with a ton(ne) of thin billowy pale beige head, which leaves some nice droopy hanging lace around the glass in its wake. It smells of meaty smoke, a bit of overwhelmed caramel malt, salty meat, and weirdly floral hops. The taste is bready caramel malt, a significant, yet restrained peaty, smoky edge, and weak otherwise drying hops. The carbonation is on the low side, the body medium weight, and surprisingly smooth after the initial acclimatization. If finishes with a diminished smokiness, the malt reclaiming the upper hand, mostly.
I have received my lesson from the 'master' - at 60% by volume of smoked German malts, this is one nicely chewy, meaty, smoked beer. Not for the faint of heart, but the comparison to Islay malts is not unfair. If this wasn't a beer, I'd be sipping it - since it is, I still wish that I was...

Dark brownish/caramel color, semi-opaque.
small moka head that stay and leave some laces.
first 5min, highly carbonated, after it slow down a bit.
smell. smoke, some malt, caramel, a bit salty
taste: theres some smoke, its malty and salty(?)
mouthfeel; highly carbonated, then slowdown to medium. the salty taste makes my mouth watering
texture is a bit watery. medium body on the thin side..medium after-taste
drinkability is alright, salty taste is a bit odd tough. its not a strong flavor beer, it is pretty moderate.
I had a bite of cheese called Riopelle(Qc) wich paired with this beer , makes the beer more interesting, it highlight the malt, caramel wich is not very present alone. bring this beer to life.

Amber color and can't see through it. Light head formation on top. Not bad looking but nothing out of this world. Aroma of caramel (malts) and some smoke. Notes of chocolate too. The taste is smoky with some caramel in there too. Thin body beer for an imperial smoked beer. Carbonation is present in the mouth. A nice smoked beer, not the best I've had but decent.

Didn't expect a smoked beer in a mixed pack. Kind of happy they put it in here.
A- Pretty much opaque chestnut with a light grey-beige head I didn't even have time to admire. Yeast sediment in the bottom of my glass.
S- Black forest ham in a metal can. Slight caramel and then chocolate once warmer. Good.
T- Well they described it well - Tastes like a smoked amber ale. It all tastes manufactured and calculated not to offend. Not exactly boring though, but just enough flavor and smoke to ween and please. If smoked beers become mainstream in Quebec, this is what they will taste like. Sour and considerably metallic finish.
M- Low carbonation has an okay feel. A little dull and artificial but not really a problem. Very dry.
D- Good. Easy to drink but not that tasty. I'd drink a bunch... but do I want to drink a bunch? Not really.
Once again, good job AMB. I didn't like it too much but it is a good product.
Would buy and enjoy again in a mixed pack but not on its own.
EDIT: What's imperial about this? BM me if you know.
