Swamp-water brown body with snow-globe style floaties. Mist of beige head and ring around the glass. Some lacing. Not a particularly attractive beer.
On the nose: whole-wheat bread, lots of Allen's apple juice, alcohol, light roast, touch of earthy hops and smoke. The cheap apple juice really throws it off.
Flavour is a bit thin and requiring a stronger malt backing. Alcohol is a bit hot for 7.5% ABV, not too bad though. Light smoky roast, touch of caramel but not too much sweetness here. I don't usually find scotch ales lacking in sweetness but I could actually use some more here. Something whiskey-like and dirty bread linger on the finish.
Much too thin for the style. Watery body with low carbonation. Needs some more body/viscosity.
No off flavours really, just not too well-balanced. Timid in a style where it's probably best to err on the side of overdone. I had to pour the last few sips due to an abundance of swirling chunks congregated at the bottom. I won't be picking this up again.

Bottle from Broue HAHA. From notes.
A - Poured a dark brown, almost black colour with no visible carbonation, a half finger of off white/brownish head and left no lace or retention.
S - Tons of dark fruit and caramel.
T - Caramel, dark fruit, raisins, and sugar. Mostly dominated by a molasses/sugar flavour. It's full of flavour but lacks that rich malty character b/c of the sugary sweetness.
M - Mild carbonation with a full body and a sweet, dry finish.
O/D - Nice. A little sweet but really malty like a Scotch should be and tasty, just nothing to really seek out or get excited over. A good one.

Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with light sweet notes. Taste is also dominated by medium caramel malt notes with light sweet notes also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not very complex overall but drinkable and somewhat enjoyable.

Started off with a big head over a hazy, chestnut coloured brew. The head quickly disappeared and left no lace at all.
Nose is boozy and sweet, no really distinctive scotch notes as you might hope for. That lack of character extends itself to the taste of the brew. Really quite anonymous - medium body, some malt, slightly sweet, hint of alcohol.
Vaguely okay, but pretty much uninspired. Not nearly in the same league as other scotch ales I've tried.

the head dissapeared completely after 5min.

A little eager to try this.
A- Dark brown with some reddish orange highlights. Fluffy beige, light brown head looks consistent and stays a few minutes.
S- Chocolate is what I get first. Tootsie roll basically.
Yeah, smells a lot like tootsie roll with a little dried dark fruit and alcohol. Rich if you sniff hard enough.A little metal presence doesn't really bother but does make it a less pleasant experience. I kind of feel like you can smell the water in here.
T- Basically a Scotch ale with barely enough taste and not enough richness to make it a complete experience. Ends with a nice mix of american hops and the tootsie roll I noticed in the smell with some added dark chocolate.
M- Medium and active carbonation. Dry finish.
D- You'd think this is easy to drink considering how discrete the alcohol is. This goes down real easy but isn't quite yummy.
Definitely some scotch character. But all of it processed through a commercial, mass market mold sucking a bit of life out of it. Good drink but not exactly satisfying when you feel like a good Scotch Ale. Had I not had so many terrific Scotch Ales I'd probably give this one a higher grade. Good first try of the style but there's just so much better out there.
Would not buy this again but can't say it's a bad product.
