Grabbed a bottle for $6.
Pours a very dark ruby brown with very little head.
Smell is world class. Caramel, brown sugar, toffee, bread. Just fantastic. The taste doesn't quite hold up to the aroma though.
The alcohol overpowers the flavor just a bit. It is still outstanding though. It has a real barrel quality booziness wise. It has a little bit of hop bite to it, but is cancelled out by the rest of the flavors.
Carbonation is basically non existent. Body a little on the thin side for an English style.
I think this beer is just a hair away from being a world class barleywine. Very true to the English style with the strong malt presence, so if you enjoy that, it is worth the price of admission. I would love to have a bourbon barrel version of this.

Look - Pitch brown body. The mocha head quickly retreated to a thin halo. The legs are splotchy.
Smell - A favorite aroma of mine - Sweet playdough. Very rich dark bread. Faint dark fruit and wafting booze.
Taste - Deep malt sweetness + the sticky mess left behind at the bottom of a bag once full of prunes.
Feel - Soft. The feel of this brew reminds me of some Hair of the Dog action.
Overall - Simple and solid.

No bottling date spied.
A: Pours a dark mahogany. Mid-sized and dense light brown head. Decent head retention with zero signs of lacing.
S: Very malty aroma. Lots of caramel. HEAVY bread. Hints of chocolate. Sweet and decadent.
T: Oh yeah. Light hoppiness up front (herbal mainly). Heavy dark bread mixed with tons of sweet caramel. Caramel everywhere. Light hit of bitterness on the back end before diving into more decadent cocoa and caramel. Aftertaste is remarkably like trying to eat a spoonful of cooca with the dry bittersweetness of it all.
M: Not as heavy as you'd think but a nice viscous and smooth brew.
O: Nice example of an english barleywine. Loads of maltiness, typical caramel, bread and cocoa flavors. Light bits of noble hops I'd say. Well balanced. Smooth and easy drinking.

Had on tap at chappys in dayton. Served in tulip glass. Nice dark color, could not see if it was black or dark brown. Nice smell for the style. Nice a malty tastes, little to no taste of hops. Had an awesome creamy feeling. As the beer warmed it got better. I would say it maybe was served too cold to begin with. Awesome beer from a awesome brewery, can't wait to see more of their stuff in cans, and hopefully some day in bottles too.

Caramel malt, hint of dark fruits, dry, not sweet at all for an English Barleywine. Kind of a short clean finish with a touch more hop character than I was expecting.
