NOTE: The beer was poured directly from the tap into the growler, and it was tasted the following evening.
A: Nice copper orange body w/ decent off-white, soapy head. Retention is okay. Little carbonation. Laces nicely 1/2 way down the glass in micro-webs.
S: Downright good. Very floral/pine-y, perfume-y. Big hop oils, white pepper gives a good kick, grapefruit and other citrus flavors (orange, starfruit). A little honey and a smudge of alcohol but barely noticeable.
M: Light-medium body, low carbonation. Very smooth and oily texture.
T: Overall taste is strong, with some brutally bitter hops and a very rich malt presence that is on the high side but really great in balancing the beasty hops. Right up front w/ the peppery, pine-y hops flavors. German hops? Doesn't seem like it....seems like they're west coast variety. Oh well. Good grapefruit flavors. Malt is sweet w/ honey and raw sugar. Big biscuit flavors as well. Finishes bone dry and leafy.
D: Delicious. Hoppy as hell, w/ a pretty aggressive bitterness and bite. Not for the average beer drinker. Great balance w/ the sweetness, not a west coast IPA like Stone. If carbonation was higher and head retention better it'd be near perfect.
Highly recommended and the best from Alt Platz I've tasted.
