Totally agree with you Th3in ! i used to love this beer but sadly it seems like they change the recipe in the last few years, can't handle how sweet this beer has become. I think they are now cheaping out on the chestnuts part and replace that with more sweets. Please Whistler go back to the good ol' days

I'm not a beer guy, but I like beer. I drink a wide variety, from ales to lagers to stouts, and while I don't know anything about IBUs and the other initialisms, I know what I like. My faves are oatmeal or chocolate stouts, but I'm not always in the mood for a stout.

Enter: this dread beverage. Oh my god. I made this account so I could review this beer. This won't be my only review, I'm not the type to have a beer every day, but this beer offended me on a DEEP level. The base of this beer is totally fine; it's a standard malty brown/amber ale. Light on the hops. Easy drinking. Well, it was until someone put like 4 pumps of Starbucks roasted chestnut syrup in. I can't even describe how overwhelmingly sweet the roasted chestnut "flavour" is. I thought it was going to be a nice background hint but oh, god, it's just so much worse than that. I mention the malty brown/amber ale backdrop, but I had to REALLY use my palate to find it. They did a good job tucking that away with the insane level of flavouring they put in.

I'm in BC, and our craft beer scene is a LOT better than this. If anyone from Whistler Brewing Co is reading this, I'd rather not be this harsh on a beer because word of mouth can be damaging, but the amount of flavouring needs to be cut pretty drastically on this brew. I could see it being pretty decent if the throttle was dialed WAY back on that and it was left to be more of a background hint.
