Appearance: light copper in color, tons of bubbles rising or clinging to the glass at first, on hard pour a thick large-bubbled head develops and slowly subsides to a thin cap

Aroma: a bready maltiness laced with a continental hop aroma, a touch of corn, faint metallic scent (perhaps from the cap)

Flavor: a hoppy balance up front which turns slightly sweet and then bitters up in the dry finish, hop-bitter aftertaste, slight toasty flavor in the upper palate, aggressive hop flavor, some corn in the background

Mouthfeel: light-medium body, carbonation fizzled out pretty quickly, some astringency

Overall Impression: The "Best Before Date" was 7/20/02! No wonder this beer was pretty bland and smelled a bit metallic. It would have scored higher if it were fresh. This is a super-popular seasonal beer in Denmark. When it is released in the spring, there is lots of clamor (people race to the stores to be the first one to get a case or two) and it sells out very quickly. So that counts for something.

Feb. 2002: What the hell is an "EASTER brew" supposed to taste like?? Anyway, this isn't a bad try. A drinkable but fairly undistinctive medium strong lager, which I have sampled in Denmark on a few occasions.

Pours a clear golden color with a flimsy, small head.

Smells of oily, herbal hops and lighter, sweet malts.

Offers a very light and refreshing body with a lively carbonation.

Tastes of caramel sweet malts and lighter, dry hops during the beginning, together with a note of straw and wheat. Has a slightly dryer middle part, with even sweeter turning malts and sugared corn. Finishes sugary with a watery dullness and nothing else going on.

Boring and one dimensional beer with no real balance or complexity.

I've had this beer a few Easters now when we visit Denmark, and I guess that I'm just now sitting down to review it. As some of the other posters noted, it's quite popular here and many of the Danish breweries will make a Påske to celebrate Easter.

Pours a light copper in color with plenty of carbonation and a white 2-finger bubbling head that settles to a thin lacing as it goes down. Nothing special really.

Not that special in the aroma department really either although I would note that there are some hints of malt, sweetness, and bread.

Bready taste leads to a light touch of hops and then becomes sweet with some maltiness in the end. Goes down a bit dry with not alot of body but some taste. Nothing spectacular really.

You could drink alot of these I suspect as they aren't too full, but at 5.7% the ABV is a bit sneaky. I'd rather spend my time drinking something with a bit more flavor and body though.

Spiced or flavored pilsners? I was hoping a holiday beer may be something of that ilk, but alas it was not to be. Small can of 33cl, small chick with “Kylle Kylle”
Soft malty aroma with nice noble hops aroma blended in. Fairly common and traditional.
Brillantly clear of yellow more towards gold. Big full white head
Dry malt character in flavor with balanced hop presence. All fairly common and traditional for Danish lagers. Additional flavor of alcohol evident, but nothing beyond the ordinary.
Slightly heavier body, which is nice. Fairly clean, but dryness is rather long lasting and not quite as pleasing as I’d like.
Rather disappointing. Common and uninspiring. Seems like their regular drink, just pushing towards malt liquor.
Thanks Big Guy for brining this back.

This beer has a ridiculous name (chicky, chicky) and a rather ugly label. I just wish it was ironic. Anyway, it's one of the most popular seasonal brews in Denmark. The one I had poured with half a finger of quickly disappearing foam. The color was sort of smoky golden but there was not much smell. The taste was sweet and dry with bread emerging after a while. It also had that taste of tannic acid that you find in so many Danish beers. It's not that bad although there is nothing Easter like with it except the name and the season.
