On tap at Growler's poured into a pint glass. Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a stringy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel with some light piny resiny hop notes. Starts with a full, rich dark caramel malty sweetness and a grassy, fresh piny English hop balance before a toasty crisp bittersweet finish. Nothing special about this brew.

A: copper appearance, good head
S: moderate fragrance
T: very little hoppy character, so as the previous reviewer I agree that the IPA label is misleading. The flavor is well rounded, but understated
M: good carbonation; medium body
D: because of the understated flavor, the beer seems to invite repeated visits, but perhaps not for the best reason.

The above impressions are based on the batch served June 2010.

Even though this beer is called "Growlers I.P.A." the description from the brewer reads as this,

"A classic version of a British pale ale. This beer is pale-copper in color and generously hopped with a dry, crisp, full bodied malt flavor"

So I classified it as a English Pale ale. Just wanted to clarify, plus it is not a good example of an IPA.

Beer is RED! Not copper this beer is RED! White thin head and some haze add to the interesting look this beer has. Carbonation is nice and steady, high carbonation in this one.

Aroma is weak again, some hop character not much of anything at all really. I pick up some malt but its really too subtle for me. I was expecting something more.

The beer is a little thin for my tastes as well, for a pale ale that is. No real bitterness any where in this beer, some malt. This is a rather mediocre beer unfortunately. Nothing terrible but nothing special about it either. Check it out if you are in the area.
